Triad Creation Tourney - Jaunt Info

The Triad Creation Tourney
March 12-April 21

Her Majesty’s Royal Academy of the Arts, the foremost magical arts academy of Great Britain, is hosting the triannual Triad Creation Tourney, in which they and two other magical schools--the United States’ Lone Star Academy and Japan’s Teikoku Majutsu-shi no Gakuen--compete to create the ultimate magical artistic creation. This year, however, things are far from going as planned. With rumors of cheating rampant and a would-be evil overlord having snuck into the school, the Travelers will have their work cut out for them getting this Triad Creation Tourney to its end!

In games like Magic: The Gathering, you need to create a deck from a pool of cards far larger than the number you can reasonably include in a tournament-legal deck.

Theorycrafting in this sense is building decks as an expression of creativity, to figure out if a crazy combo works and is viable rather than with a reasonable expectation of winning against a No Fun Allowed serious tournament deck.

I suspect that this would be Transitive rather than Perpetual, while the game is in play. Madoka would try this regardless of whether or not it works; she'd also try game design proper.

Hmm. I’m not sure if this would count, I’m afraid. I mean, there’s creativity there, but it seems like it’d be difficult to actually make spells from it that fit with this work’s magic. It seems incompatible with having any kind of intentional magical results.

Game design could count, though. What kind it’d be would depend on what you mean by ‘game design’ though: if you mean like video game design, then it’d be Perpetual and only the one original copy that you make is magical. If it’s like tabletop game design, then it’d probably be Performative (with the Game Master being the main artist, though it could also be collaborative magic with the players)

How about creating card game cards? (IE, if Bakura made some home-brew Duel Monsters cards, could they actually do what the card said they do?)

Definitely! Especially since card game cards are usually artworks themselves. Whether they'd do what the card *says* they do would be more a question of the creators skill and ability - just writing the text of 'do this thing' isn't really enough. But it would definitely be possible.

Also possible would be making cards where holograms / conjurings of the creatures come forth, if you wanted to go completely nuts and recreate anime Yu-Gi-Oh games altogether :P
