Jaunt Week 3 Summary & Jaunt Week 4 Plotting
The time for hyperlight travel comes rather sooner than anyone expected, but with the sudden loss of communications from Gehenna, there’s no other choice. Hyperlight means an end to the hallucinatory troubles that have been plaguing the Synthetics and cyborgs… but it brings its own problems.
Matic comes back online, now merged (not… quite successfully) with Elphaba’s outrider; he and the Messengers have a little adjusting to do. (He doesn’t exactly make new friends, either.) Istas performs carnage on the hapless apple monsters in Liminal Space, revealing them to be full of brass stars held together with duct tape. Kyan is hit hard by the apparent total loss of the one place he’s ever been able to call home, crappy though it was. Jules is doing his best to dismiss the sensor intrusions from other people’s cybernetics as Just Another Hallucination.
While Eren is far from the only one to notice that these portals to Liminal Space seem to be open to everyone, he is the one who raises the alarm on the network, especially since infiltrators who use them are still infiltrators. Jade entertains the idea of stashing infiltrators and Travelers alike in Liminal Space to help take the load off the ships, but no one’s sure how feasible that’s going to be. Liara recommends against unnecessary use of liminal skills, in case that just destabilises the portal situation further.
As for the portals leading from one ship to the other, Bela’s not best pleased with the resulting interlopers. It seems interlopers in general aren't welcomed anywhere though, despite Shuu's best efforts to sneak into the reactor room of the Empress.
Will nothing settle down, or are our intrepid Travelers doomed for more shenanigans?
Please let us know what your characters are doing to fix the developing problems on the ships in the comments below! As always, questions are welcome.

Re: Summary
He also used a skill that informed him that the Liminal Portals that appeared on the ships are "extra-system access loci," something he also shared in the above post.
Questions

They still appear the same on the Outriders, but not out in space.
no subject
How severe is the strain and speed drop off on the Corona? Enough that, say, it be noticeably close to the physical stress of one ship hauling another?
ETA: Are the portals still springing up, or has that stopped?
no subject
Yes and yes.
And yes.
no subject
What's the fastest the ships could reasonably be expected to get up to speed again, given the current rate of deceleration?
no subject
Barring further portal incidents or malfunctions, 3-4 days.
no subject
no subject
Yes.

Or, for that matter, to disentangle by shutting down the drive, then cycling it back up again? (Is rebooting the drive at all a reasonable undertaking at speed, actually, or is that something that anyone with a modicum of familiarity with the tech would realize will kill us all? It seems like something to try to me, but I've admittedly never actually travelled at hyperlight speeds.)
no subject
Hypothetically, rebooting the drive would work, although it would take 3-4 days to get back up to speed that way, too. And only hypothetically - there's no way to predict what the drive will entangle, and if it's based on proximity, at deep space, even separated by millions upon millions of miles, the Empress might be the nearest source.
But there's no way to know if it's based on proximity.

Pitch black, with high hills and flowing water between them.

They're at close to maximum - about 300 total people (yay NPCs).

The same sort of hallucination, but not the same, precise images.

Plotting
Suggestions and scheming below.

For Istas, I kinda have no clue. In fact I'd be up for any suggestions on what to do with her here, since she's really not at all useful in the 'figuring out what to do' department.
no subject
Istas and Zoe should hang out, tho. Or at least meet. I can't offer much useful for her to do tho, sadly, just maybe talking about impending babies and/or plans to help that neither of them will be much use for carrying out...
no subject
So yeah, there may be some frantic 'ridic is that actually there?!!' calls XD
Impending babies could be an interesting topic to discuss with istas! So i guess maybe theyll just...chat while all the chaos is happening, hah
no subject
:: goes to do Zoe's next :: so you can hit that shortly, too...

And if the hallucinations are back...Jules is going to continue being a basket case and questioning everything. (Best sensor officer ever.) Have fun with that, people of the Empress.
no subject
But on the whole, Ridic will be annoyed at Jules again, but glad he's questioning! Good diabolin! I swear, he's gonna be the only halfway sane one on the bridge :|
If you want, I got Zoe jury-rigging last month, so she could help Hajime find something else to fix if he's on Corona.
no subject
He probably is, not having cybernetics certainly helps.
Jury-rigging wouldn't be a bad thing for him to get, if you want to have her run into him while he's trying so hard to fix things.

Zatanna will still be slightly reeling from having received a new ability during a previous mingle (the one that turns her into a 19-year-old, specifically), on top of the fact that she's still hesitant to use her magic for anything more than the small trick here and there because of personal plot stuff.
Aside from that, she's basically going around looking for portals while trying to keep people she doesn't think are Investigators from noticing said portals, so that they don't end up in Liminal. Knowing her, it's...probably not going very well.
Otherwise, I'm open to any plotting if people want her around for any CR!

Zoe is back on the Corona and will be helping out however a very pregnant woman who's only just learning how to fix ships can. She may disappear into liminal space to create any impossible-to-work-around parts, if that winds up being a thing, which could get her into trouble? I dunno >.> She spent last mingle basically prowling liminal space and trying to corral infiltrators who wound up there, which may not have won her many friends.
I'm still kinda slow this week, almost as bad as I was last week. I'm hoping it's RL stresses, which should slow down after this weekend, so I can get back to proper posting speed v.v
Re: Plotting
Wash will be on the Corona also using his much less extensive repair skills. ANd fetching things for Zoe like a good husband. And possibly trying to keep Infiltrators from wandering into Liminal through such classic techniques as "Look! A monkey!"
no subject
The suit will have some sensor malfunctions due to the hallucination issue, so there can definitely be shenanigans until he realizes what's going on. He is going to try and continue to FIX ALL THE THINGS, though portal related malfunctions are a new concept completely.
If he finds out what's going on aboard the Empress he will definitely try to get everyone to try and shut down then reroute the plasma conduit around the portal in some true BugGyver fashion.
Gale on the other hand does not have the technical knowhow to be of much use in trying to repair anything, but he is going to keep running around trying to help/rescue anyone who needs it, as well as try to keep an eye on his comrades. If need be, he will use his powers and/or transform into his demon self to save people, considering this is a giant catastrophe about to happen he's not going to see any point in hiding that anymore.
He's already seen one world destroyed along with it's people, if he can keep these people alive he's going to damn well try.
Re: Plotting
Don't worry. He won't decide on his own to do full ship-altering procedures.Otherwise, Lapis herself is going to be around and trying to help as much as she can, and is available to be pulled into things if needed.
no subject
That said, though, being Conditioned means that he's much more aware of things than he'll let on, and if anyone starts any fights, he'll be more than willing to help break them up - especially if someone's trying to throttle a (seemingly) defenseless person. No fighting each other until we've reached a safe port, guys!
...though I may just toss a coin to see as to which ship he ended up on, if the portals actually close when both ships fell out of hyperlight.
no subject
Rosalie/A-Lie will be freaking out about the hallucinations being back and/or glued to the sensor console helping keep the Corona going as much as she can. Or at least she'll stay as glued to the sensors as she's allowed to be...
Shuu will be hiding out in the Empress doing his medic thing.
no subject
The stress is kind of getting to him, though, among other things that aren't doing his head any good. He might get a bit lost and drift across between ships, but most of his time'll be on the Empress.
no subject
hallucinationssensory input. So now she's getting back up to speed just in time to get in on the next round of hallucinations! Won't that be fun! She's still on the Empress. Plus the cybernetic-related hallucinations are on top of her diabolin-related tenuous grasp on reality - she's increasingly unsure that outrunning the Tachyon Storm is even something they should be trying to do, because Time Triad Cultist reasons.
no subject
Oh, and yes, he's still got his Audiocaudal Syndrome activated, so he's got a canine's ears/tail/teeth/some fur. And yes, for those that missed it and were wondering this is a Spaceballs reference and I regret nothing.
