Triad Creation Tourney - Jaunt Info

The Triad Creation Tourney
March 12-April 21

Her Majesty’s Royal Academy of the Arts, the foremost magical arts academy of Great Britain, is hosting the triannual Triad Creation Tourney, in which they and two other magical schools--the United States’ Lone Star Academy and Japan’s Teikoku Majutsu-shi no Gakuen--compete to create the ultimate magical artistic creation. This year, however, things are far from going as planned. With rumors of cheating rampant and a would-be evil overlord having snuck into the school, the Travelers will have their work cut out for them getting this Triad Creation Tourney to its end!

...if he uses two skill slots, one for a male and one for a female bunny, would they be able to breed?

But also. If he tries, what would happen? Like would something happen the moment he tries to shove an animal into hammerspace/take it through a portal, and if yes what, or would something happen at a later or earlier point?

Excellent.

Also the population will probably be kept in check to at least a degree by being dragon and wolf's prey, but muhahaha let's better build a rabbit proof fence...

So the way I'm envisioning this happening right now is that Laughs catches two wild bunnies, stuffs them in a box, takes them to Liminal through a portal. Goes yay it works! Now let's get more animals! And then when he tries to do so the portal just doesn't seem to exist as far as the other animals are concerned. Does that work?

/chinhands

I have a few ideas. Tell me if one/more of these would work
- explaining a bunny (biology/behaviour) to a person (for transfiguration/illusion creation purposes?)
- researching bunnies with someone else
- employing someone's help to catch the bunny
- teaching someone (Ryo?) how to hunt bunnies all properly

Is there much in the way of information on the Dark Magician in the library on online or anything?

Also would the library happen to have a decent sized section on the known history of magic in this world, or is it mostly just assumed knowledge that would be a bit trickier for an outsider to research?

There's some information - there have indeed been many, many media reports about them - but not much in the way of solid info. No one knows who they really are, or where they are now, because they disguise their appearance. Two years ago they succeeded in impersonating the Prime Minister, but was ultimately foiled when the Plucky Orphans accidentally broke through the enchantment he'd put on the real PM to make him look like a vagrant by accidentally setting the PM on fire.

There are many, many wild and ridiculous conspiracy theories about the Dark Magician.

As for the known history of magic, it is there. But it's possibly a bit tricky to find, since it's actually included in the history of art section. (Since, as far as the people of this world are concerned, they're the same thing - sure, people can and often do create non-magical artworks - but magic is still very much regarded as the same thing as art.)

Edit to make this more clear: basically, the history of magic is the history of art.

I wanted to confirm if these assumptions are correct about ~computer art~.

1. Magic created through fancy computer graphics remain on as long as the piece of art is open on the computer.
2. ie. if the computer/program crashes or someone shuts it down otherwise, the spell will end.
3. Destroying the computer will also obviously destroy the magic.

Those assumptions are correct, yes!

I know I read this somewhere, but I can't find it again, sO: who all competes in the various rounds?

The Champions are required to compete in all rounds: all other students can compete in the first two rounds (and for them, it's not a requirement - they could compete only in one round and not the other, for instance.)

Gotcha! I was pretty sure that's what was up, but I couldn't find it again for the life of me.

Bakura is going to be going around asking all the NPCS local-type people what the Dark Magician was after and what he did when he was pretending to be the PM. What sort of responses would he get? (He's playing up the career Mysterious Transfer Student thing because yeah, he's a Majesty's student but he's pretty clearly not local and he just found out this was even a Thing thanks to the news~)

Pretty much the same stuff that's generally common knowledge about the Dark Magician - that no one knows who they are, and that two years ago they successfully impersonated the Prime Minister, replacing themselves with him.

The real PM was put under an illusion as well, and left to wonder around as - apparently - a homeless vagrant. Until the Plucky Orphans (Kitty, Phillip, and Prompto) managed to foil this by accidentally setting the real PM on fire, a process which apparently destroyed the illusion on him, revealing his true identity. That said trio are Majesty's students is also common knowledge.

So no one really knows motive or anything, then? Didn't do anything specific when acting as PM that would hint to anything?

Nope, not really - it's known that they were planning on announcing some reforms, but what exactly those reforms would have been was never found out.

Would Yukino's Oracular archetype (Perspective) give her any insight as to the provenance or intent behind a given spell?

It might, but that's a little too broad to say - is she directing it toward a particular spell/performance?

She likely would be, although at present I don't have a specific one in mind; this was more of a general question. She might try reading some just to see if she can.

Are there magic costumes? Like, can someone make a costume that shapeshifts the person who wears it? Or is that too far out of the range for permanent magic?

No I'm not plotting something.
comebewe: PB: Alex Price (Default)

[personal profile] comebewe 2018-03-22 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Technically, yes - but creations that can completely shapeshift / change the appearance of the person wearing are extremely advanced and rare magic. It's certainly not something students would be capable of, and acquiring something like that from someone who does have that ability would be extremely expensive.

So unfortunately, it's not really going to be something Naoya or Casper can use, I'm afraid.
